Welcome to CLNM

Welcome to CLNM

Posted 27th May 2020

The past 9 weeks have been crazy busy for Care Leavers National Movement with everyone working hard. The founders have been established and new representatives appointed. We have launched our new website and an internet poverty campaign, all with the continued support of The National House Project.

It has been difficult to keep momentum at times when the days merge into weeks and weeks into months surrounded by the same four walls but we’ve made it and we’re so excited to share our new website with you all and showcase some of the fantastic work that the movement have been doing over the past few months in spite of adversity #Lockdown.

Most importantly we want to thank the original CLNM members who established this movement and gave it foundations for others to build on. Some of these members will continue to support the movement as ’Founders’ whilst others have gone off on ventures new.

We want to welcome on board our new reps who are bursting at the seams with great ideas about how to improve outcomes for Care Leavers and raise awareness of our struggles and successes. Our reps are from House Projects in Oxford, Wolverhampton, Doncaster, Stoke-on-Trent, Islington and Warwickshire with reps from Manchester and Rotherham due to join us soon.

We have lots of plans for the forthcoming 18 months which involve an ambitious Internet Poverty Campaign that will benefit all care leavers. Residentials, celebration events, networking events, filming, travelling the UK, fundraising and most importantly the role of co-designing the National House Project so that young people remain at the heart of the charity.

We are active citizens, prepared to do what it takes to improve outcomes for care leavers. Ambitious with our own lives and ambitious to support others in theirs.

Residential was one of the high points - bringing 30 reps all together in one place from across the UK to plan a conference and build connections with each other. Another high was seeing everyone flourish at the CLNM 2023...
