The CLNM Chairs Blog: Round 2

The CLNM Chairs Blog: Round 2

Posted 25th May 2023

It's great that you've come back to read our second Blog ... We are Jodie and Sean – The CLNM chairs.

The past 6 weeks as a CLNM rep have been a whirlwind…national meetings, regional meetings, peer evaluation training and employability days are just a few of the events we have been involved in.

Our national meeting was a huge success and it really cemented working relationships between CLNM reps. Our national meetings take place at Backdane in the Peak District, this has become a second home for us and we are so grateful to be provided with such a wonderfully creative space to drive our objectives.

Our regional meeting was online, which is a rarity for us as we love to come together and build relationships. However, this too was a success with 80% of reps from across the UK coming together to share success, provide an overview of workstreams that national reps are leading on and also have some fun via a quiz.

We have also had fantastic opportunities with Weil in London who facilitated an employability day for us, we had opportunities to network with various employees that work at Weil, develop our CV's and practice our interview techniques. The Weil offices in London are incredible, we left feeling really inspired and some of us have been invited back to a 'Boot Camp' in October too.  We also visited our good friend Maria from Suited & Booted at their new premises on Gray Inn Road, London- they support young people to make a great first impression when attending job interviews. We know this as they have supported CLNM reps time and time again to look and feel good when attending interviews, conferences and board meetings.

Finally (although we could write an essay on what we have been up to), we have been planning our 2023 Peer Evaluation, this is where CLNM reps visit all Local House Projects across the UK to gather feedback from young people about what is working well in House Projects and what they would like to see developed. This is a huge piece of work that the whole house project community is invested in- the research findings will be shared at the CLNM conference on 19th October 2023.

Shout out to all the young people currently sitting GCSE exams at the minute and to the Coventry House Project CLNM rep- Paris for winning the Front Line Award for young people.

Thanks for reading, we'll be back next month.

The CLNM Chairs Blog: Year End

Our story of CLNM 2023.

We started this journey as chairs of the north and south region, 12 months ago with no experience, however we got through chairing our first meeting unscathed, and from there it was onwards and sometimes upwards (literally). Residential was one of the high points - bringing 30 reps all together in one place from across the UK to plan a conference and build connections with each other. Another high was seeing everyone flourish at the CLNM 2023...
