Join our Digital Poverty Campaign- Stand with Care Leavers across the country
Posted 18th August 2020
Digital connectivity is an essential part of today’s society, care leavers are being excluded from society because they haven’t got the means to be, and stay connected. The digital divide between care leavers and the rest of society has grown considerably throughout lockdown which heightens the need for government to address this issue at a national level.
‘CARE LEAVERS DESERVE EQUAL OPPURTUNITIES TO STRIVE AND BECOME TOMMORROWS LEADERS’.
Stage 1 and 2 of our campaign have been achieved during lockdown, ensuring all care leavers in House Projects were either brought data packages and devices or provided funds to buy data packages themselves. These funds were raised through our Just Giving Campaign.
In June 2020 the government launched an initiative that provided care leavers across the country with data packages and devices… this initiative ends November this year, but the need for care leavers to be digitally connected doesn’t.
Join us in stage 3 & 4 of our campaign to ensure digital connectivity is part of the government’s minimum offer to care leavers. CLNM are planning to launch our Digital Poverty Campaign to a cross governmental group and we need your support to ensure it is heard loud and clear.
We are in the process of forming a powerful coalition with influential partners to bring the campaign to the attention of Ministers and highlight the inequalities care leavers face due to digital poverty... details to be announced in our next blog so keep an eye out.
The need for care leavers to stay digitally connected grows day by day as the world evolves. Care leavers want to evolve with the world but fear they will be left behind as they dont have the means to enable their progression.
Our campaign is growing by the day and gaining momentum but we still need your support to keep care leavers connected in the here and now:
